About us

We are a theatre program, established in Aug 2019, at Castaic High School.

We aim to explore and learn about theater from other times and places, to experiment with different acting styles and techniques. As a company we strive to build a community of creatives who work together in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Over the past four year we have built a program that centers around collaboration and using student skills and interests in our productions. We perform a variety of plays, genres and styles on stage. We work hard to build links with the local community and share performances with Castaic Middle School as well as elementary schools and youth groups.

We offer technical theatre opportunities including costume design and construction, set design and construction as well as lighting and sound.  In previous years our productions have included film, puppetry and movement as well as acting.

During Academic Year 2022/23 we aim to make further links in the community, widen our audience, and make links with professionals in further education and the arts.

We can't wait to share this years work.

How can you get involved...?

During the academic year 2022/2023 we will be offering the following classes:

  • Theater 1a/1b - Introduction to Theatre

  • Theater 2 - Acting and Performance - audition required

  • Theater 3 - Theatre Production - audition required

  • Stage Craft - interview required

'I love the environment of theater. Everyone is very open and welcoming!'

'I love the positivity, I don't think I've ever met so many people who always look at the bright side of things.'

WHat do our students say about the theatre program?

'I highly recommend joining theater! We do fun games in every class, and you get to use your creativity to get into the character you are playing. I've met so many friends too!'

'At Castaic High School the theater class is the most fun and exciting. We play games, and of course act. Mrs Mistry is one of the nicest teachers and I was never into acting, but this class has helped me to realize how fun it is!'

'The theater program here is great because you and friends collaborate and act. You get to create plays and design sets. I'm running lighting for this production and it's incredible to see my ideas get used and make a difference to the play.'

Brandon Bellinger

'Our theater elective has been so fun and amazing. We get to socialize with other students, play games and do productions. I definitely enjoy it and I always look forward to this class. I am excited to join Theater 2 next year. I hope you come to join us next year!'

'Firstly, the most fun I've had from an elective class has certainly happened in the Theater Program! It's an amazing interactive program. You learn what makes a good play and a good actor, and you get up, you do it! There's something for everyone, so don't be afraid to join in and be who you are! I'll most likely return, it's fun, memorable and the feeling of performing is something I won't soon forget!''

'I am a really introverted person. It is really difficult to make friends for me- I am shy and overthink everything I say. so when I came to theater- man- I was soooo nervous. I was scared of everyone because they were so funny, smart, and really good at theater. I would say sorry one million times for messing up the lines, and I was too scared to let them see my personality. However, when we got into the breakout to rehearse lines, they were some of the most accepting people ever. I would join the room and they would ask how my day is, what classes I've had, and be genuinely nice. Now it's been a month or so and I have made some amazing friends just by being in this class. if you even have a little bit of wonder or curiosity about theater- i would say to just join. I mean nothing bad can happen and if anything you'll gain friends as well as confidence. You don't even have to act or say lines- you could make costumes and help out with the music or editing. It's truly a wonderful space to be apart of.'
