THEAtRe 2- Acting and performance

Who is this course for? 

  • STUDENTS ENTERING 9TH GRADE- 12TH

  • For all students who would like to study acting and theater production as part of their fine arts requirement. 

  • For students who have had previous experience of drama before or have an interest in making performances for an audience

  • For students who want to build on their current acting skills and develop their performance ability. 

  • For learners who like working with others and learning on your feet.

  • For students who enjoy being creative and exploring new ideas.

  • For students who want experience learning about all aspects of production, performance and technical.  

What might we study...?* 

  • Principles of Acting- Naturalism

  • Audition monologue

  • Study of a play

  • DTASC Fall Festival- competition and showcase

  • Children's Theatre performance

  • Shakespeare workshop- scene studies and showcase

  • Devising Original Drama

  • Introduction to Technical Theatre

*Programs of work subject to change depending on students interests and abilities. 

Entry requirements and how do I sign up? 

Previous experience of theater or performance desired although an interest in, and a passion for performance is essential. 

If you have taken part in Theatre 1 and want to learn more, this is the course for you. If you want to build skills and perform to an audience - all entering 9th graders interested in performance to an audience will be considered for this class. 

Short audition needed for entry to this course. SEE AUDITIONS PAGE FOR INFO AND DATE.
